We believe that kindness is more than just random acts. High Schools, local businesses, and community leaders across the grand valley will be will be conducting the 3rd annual Kindness is Contagious week. It is to be held on February 12th- 17th, 2018. This year we look forward to encouraging students to gain tools needed to cope when life gets hard. By empowering others to speak out, stand up, and address problems, we can inspire change for proactiveness rather than reactiveness.
This year we plan to focus on empowering those around us. We want to empower eachother to stand up, speak up, and speak out- to create a more positive culture of inclusion, as well as help emotional growth and support.
“Kindness is more than deeds. It is an attitude, an expression, a look, a touch.” It is anything that lifts another person.” -Plato
This year we plan to focus specifically of mental Illness and reducing the stigma of it.We understand that kindness cannot fix some of the deep seeded issues. Suicide is a very serious and recurring concern in Mesa County – the overall suicide rate in Mesa County is almost double the national average. It is the leading cause of death for youth 14-19 in Colorado.
